Story of Makoto and Dratini

When Makoto was young, Dratini saved him from drowning. Makoto smiled and said thank you to him; Dratini fell in love(?) with him and started to follow him. (It’s more like imprinting)

Narukami’s face says it all, especially the last one.

Happiness in stories at most is a couple lines at the end. It’s boring.

- Drosselmeyer

I actually love this quote because it represents a cynical philosophy on storytelling (and life) that his own characters prove wrong.

Princess Tutu’s many layers of meta, and the story’s commentary on stories themselves, is my favourite thing about it. Drosselmeyer’s characters, and by extension, the narrative itself, show that a happy ending is not simple and uninteresting. It’s a common belief today, that in storytelling, darkness and tragedy equals depth and maturity.

However, all the main characters in Princess Tutu faced harsh realities, struggled with their identities, and made sacrifices. They ultimately defined their own identities, and found hope in a bleak situation. They worked hard for their happiness. And that is profound storytelling.

Princess Tutu says that hope is something that should be celebrated in storytelling, and life.

(With my mother’s help) I would blog about…

Horses and cats. Or just animals in general. As a kid I warmed up to all creatures even if they were dangerous.

And then Mulan and basically anything about China. Oriental stuff always fascinated me as a kid…and still holds true now that I’m an adult~

The year before I actually started blogging here. *laughs*

Ummm…I don’t think I had any MAJOR obsessions at this time…maybe Professor Layton and Ace Attorney. It was the PL series that made me discover Tumblr, actually!

But otherwise, I probably would have blogged a pleasant mix of fandoms that I was in, plus a few personal tidbits. Not much different from what I blog about now (except probably far less Persona 4 lol)

Lesee…I think…12 was right about when…I started drawing…

So I probably would have scanned a whole bunch of Sonic the Hedgehog fanart and Sonic OC art no matter how bad they were and post those on my blog.

I also probably would have been one of those obsessive fangirls who’d tell other fangirls to stay away from Knuckles and write long posts on how Knuckles was perfect and why he was mine. I’d probably post shipping war stuff as well.

Let’s not talk about 12 year old me…

It was either at 14 or 15 that I got into Transformers Animated and obsessed over nothing else for the next few years

SO YEAH…BLOGGIN’ ABOUT TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED

AND HOW I TOTALLY HAVE THIS DUMB CRUSH ON OPTIMUS PRIME

AND PLEASE LOOK AT MY TRANSFORMERS OCs

Oh okay well…there was also a tiny surge of Nightmare Before Christmas, so I probably would have blogged about that then too.
